About

The Senior Class Gift is an important tradition for those about to graduate from MICA. This winter, the Class of 2020 elected to raise funds for a need-based scholarship to support students from Baltimore City following in their footsteps. In light of COVID-19, seniors have the additional option to designate their donation to support the Angel Fund, which provides critical emergency relief for students in crisis.

As of April 1, more than 110 students have requested help from the Angel Fund, and over 95% of applications were able to be approved. Food insecurity and housing are the two most common areas of need among all applicants.

Seniors are encouraged to donate $20.20 (or any amount) to support whichever cause inspires them, and to share this campaign with their friends and families using #MYM2020 to raise additional support.

Updates
Exciting weekend update!

Hi everyone,

How about some good news to start your weekend?

Last night we hit the $25,000 mark in funds raised to help MICA students, including a $3,000 challenge gift from one of our generous parent donors! Later this morning I'll also be emailing updated numbers for the Angel Fund (see the image below), which provides emergency relief for students in this time of crisis.

You'll see that we've had a surge in requests since last week, and you'll also that we've been able to provide awards to 98% of all Angel Fund applicants (and 100% of all Scott Kelly '87 Fund applicants). These two funds are MICA's greatest tools to help students who need additional assistance right now, and your donations are being distributed almost as quickly as they are received.

If you'd like to go the extra mile for this campaign, be sure to check out the Advocate Dashboard. From there, you can share this campaign directly to your Facebook/Twitter, or you can copy a link which tracks how many clicks and donations you generate! Just make sure you share the campaign using those buttons on the Advocate Dashboard, otherwise your clicks and donations get credited to a generic Community Advocates group (and you deserve recognition for your advocacy!)

Thank you for being part of such an incredible and caring community!
