COVID-19 has created an unprecedented public health situation around the world. For the health and safety of our global and local Mac community, we’ve closed campus and moved to distance learning for the remainder of the semester. This has led to a myriad of unexpected expenses for the college and for students. In response, we established the Student Relief Fund to help us meet these unanticipated needs.
In less than one month, we surpassed our original goal of $100,000. We're blown away by your immense generosity during our "phase one" efforts to cover immediate, emergency expenses for our students as they navigated the transition to remote learning. Now that we are farther along in the pandemic, we are moving into "phase two," when we will strive to meet the ongoing and evolving needs of our community through gifts to the Macalester Fund. Those gifts give us the flexibility to direct support wherever it's most needed.
Your financial support is needed now more than ever. This is a challenging time, but what continues to inspire us is the desire among the Macalester community to help in any way they can. Thank you!
We have been blown away by the initial response to the Student Relief Fund. In less than one month, we surpassed our original goal of $100,000 thanks to the generosity of 600+ donors. People who are willing to share what they have to support others are a glimmer of hope during these difficult times. Thank you.
