Dutchmen First

This campaign ended on June 30, 2021, but you can still make a gift to Lebanon Valley College by clicking here!

25% of students entering Lebanon Valley College in the fall of 2018 were the first in their families to attend college.

The first year of college can be difficult for any student, particularly for first-generation students – the first in their families to attend college. The Dutchmen First program helps first-generation students succeed in the freshman year, and return to thrive and complete a full degree at LVC.

The Dutchmen First program began in the fall of 2018 with 30 first-generation students, each of whom was paired with an LVC faculty/staff mentor and participated in monthly lunch discussions about adjustment and keys to success at Lebanon Valley. Upon completion of the Dutchmen First program, students receive a $500 scholarship award, renewable for future years at LVC – a tremendous incentive to stick with the program.

In this first year, Dutchmen First students earned a higher average GPA and great retention rate compared to other first-generation students.

This fall, we want to expand the program to help 50 first-generation students to thrive academically and culturally and go on to earn a degree.

Will you sponsor a Dutchmen First student award with a $500 gift?
