About

In July of 2023, several Le Moyne College students, along with Fr. Patrick Rogers, S.J., Le Moyne's Vice President for Mission Integration will begin a pilgrimage for World Youth Day/Magis where they will join students from most of the 200 plus Jesuit universities and colleges from around the world.

The word Magis, from the Latin meaning “greater”, was a concept that Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, used to exhort and inspire the early Jesuits to seek as they engaged in their work building up the Kingdom of God. Our Le Moyne pilgrimage group hopes to do the same. The Magis program is a special opportunity for students formed at Jesuit Institutions to encounter Jesus in community, in prayer, and in service to the poor and marginalized of Portugal.

When the week-long Magis program is completed, our Le Moyne World Youth Day Group will then travel back to Lisbon to join the hundreds of thousands of young Catholics from around the world to celebrate our faith with Pope Francis. This wonderful opportunity only happens every three years and provides the chance for students to grow in their faith with peers from Le Moyne and friends from around the world.
