About

Dear Parents,

For most of us, the fall of senior year is filled with excitement (and a bit of anxiety, thanks to the college process). In the spring, emotions kick in as we spend those final days at a school our children have called home for the last few years. In that time, they discovered new passions, spread their wings, faced a few fears, and made lasting friendships. Through it all, Lawrence Academy has been at the center recognizing, inspiring, supporting, and encouraging them to become the very best versions of themselves.

We now have the chance to show our gratitude in recognition of the impact the school has had on our children through the Senior Parent Gift (SPG), a long-standing Lawrence Academy tradition. Every year, parents of graduating seniors support LA with a gift that is split between the LA Fund (areas of greatest need) and a capital project that makes a lasting, positive effect on the school. In recent years, the capital gift has funded the Media Conference Center, the beautiful main entryway, and the re-purposing of Powderhouse Road as a pedestrian-only walkway, all of which have provided an immediate, positive impact on the entire campus community. Thanks to SPGs from previous years, our children are enjoying and benefiting from these transformative campus improvements.

Senior parents from the classes of 2022 and 2023 contributed almost $800,000 towards the LA Fund and the construction of a new terrace off of MacNeil Lounge, the Community Commons Terrace. This year, we have been asked to complete funding for this project. Once finished, the Terrace will create additional innovative and flexible outdoor seating space for students and faculty and enhance the educational and social community experience. This continued definition and aesthetic refinement of the academic quad is an extension of a carefully planned, multi-year initiative to enhance the educational landscape at LA.

Our 2024 SPG goals are to achieve 100% participation from senior families and to raise a total of $400,000. Of that amount, 50% will go to the LA Fund and 50% to the Community Commons Terrace. We are thrilled to report that over $258,000 has already been raised in support of the SPG! We hope to exceed the goal and know that we can do so with your help. A member of the committee will be contacting you in the days ahead to connect with you about this opportunity, to answer any questions you may have, and to invite you to contribute on behalf of your LA senior.

In a matter of months, our children will graduate armed with the tools, confidence, and inspiration to take the next step in their lifelong journey. Before then, we ask you to consider the incredible impact that LA has had on your child as astudent, athlete, artist, and individual over the years with the guidance and support of LA’s faculty and staff. Join us by giving or pledging generously by the end of the calendar year so that we may continue to augment Lawrence Academy’s legacy and, like classes before us, continue the tradition of funding projects that have a meaningful and lasting impact on every LA student’s experience.

Sincerely,

Susanna and Richard Gallant (Rachel '20, Sarah '24)

Devin and Leslie O'Reilly (Shea '24)
