The LCS Fund is essential to Lake Country School’s mission to foster independence, critical thinking, and creativity within each child. We are a community that promotes diversity and inclusion, as well as respect and responsibility to self, to others, and to the earth.
The culmination of annual giving at Lake Country School is LCS Gives Week, where we come together as a community once more to celebrate what LCS Gives us, and what we give our school in return. We recognize how LCS makes a difference, from our students receiving a Montessori education, friends and community, and a life-long love for learning.
Friday featured the most coveted part of LCS Gives Week for our students: a fresh pair of brand-new LCS Socks! With a design created by our very own Noah, the socks encouraged you to Believe in Wander and celebrate the LCS spirit wherever you go.
We also closed off our parking lot after school and took advantage of unseasonably warm temperatures with sweet treats from Butter and Bogart's, music from current parent Colin Monette, and LCS Merch, both new and old, available for purchase! It capped off a truly amazing week and showed that the LCS Gives mentality is alive and well throughout our community.
As we reach the end of our week of celebration and giving, so too do we near the finish line of our LCS Fund annual goal. We strive for full participation from our community and hope that you will contribute above at a level that is meaningful to you. Thank you so much for being a part of LCS Gives Week; we can't wait for the next one!
100 days ago by Harrison McLeanThe theme of LCS Gives Week is celebrating all of the wonderful things Lake Country gives to us, from an education, a sense of community, the Land School, and an innate drive to help others. On Thursday, we took time to give back to our community by hosting a food and toiletry drive in support of Harvest From the Heart Food Shelf at Incarnation Church. Representatives from the Council of Children (and a few of their friends) brought four huge carts of food and supplies to deliver to our neighbors in need.
We also continued our yearly tradition of delivering baked goods cooked in our commercial kitchen to our neighbors on Pleasant and Pillsbury Ave. to thank them for being such great neighbors and apologize for taking up so many parking spots during the year! Junior High & Elementary One mentor/mentee pairs baked more than 40 loaves of zucchini bread, with ingredients fresh from our Land School, taking pride and ownership in this practice of giving back to the community. Thank you to Vonny for spearheading this project!

Out of all the days of LCS Gives Week, Wednesday was by far the wackiest. It featured our first dress-up theme: mismatched patterns and power clashing! The outfits were powerful, to say the least.
After school, students poured into the Front Lot for the Bubblefest 2025, which is exactly what it sounds like! With the help of The Rainbow Lady, children of all ages oo'ed and aah'ed and basked in the wonder that only really big bubbles can provide. Many created their bubbles to chase or jumped to catch the bubbles from The Rainbow Lady's wands, and some watched the magic from afar.

Tuesday marked the return of Temporary Tattoos at Recess in what quickly became the most anticipated day of the week. Dubbed "Tatt-uesday," all current students, from our youngest Children's Housers to our bravest Junior Highers, got the chance to get tatted; some chose to go from head to toe!
With the help of parent (and one grandparent!) volunteers (shoutout to Jessica, Emily, Susan, Sarah Jean, Soo, Andrea, and Angela), thousands of tattoos went home with our students to symbolize just how much fun LCS Gives Week can be!

The start of LCS Gives Week has been off the charts! We started on Sunday with our second-annual LCS Gives Week Kickoff Happy Hour, where more than 140 current families and staff descended upon Sisyphus Brewing for an afternoon of socializing, silent auction bidding, and bonding over a shared love for our school.
The LCS Lovefest continued at Monday's all-school assembly, where we sang songs together, Mr. Moudry wore a silly hat, and we talked about why we're grateful for our school. We also took time to honor Zoe St. Mane's storied four-decade career. She left her position as the Class H assistant last month, which she held after returning post-retirement as a longtime Class F guide. She led the way for hundreds of Elementary 2 students, teaching with a mix of humor, seriousness, and brilliance that left a lasting impact on anyone who met her. Lake Country would not be what it is today without the devotion and dedication of Zoe, and we thank her for all she continues to give to our school!

We've got an exciting week planned, and we're so excited to share our favorite time of the year with our entire community!
