Notes from the President and Incoming President of the JHU Barnstormers.

I’ve served as president for two academic years, but these years have held so much more than academic sentiment for me. I got an intimate look at the raw passion and drive this group holds for creating art, and this group of students inspires me to quite literally shoot for the moon. If you do-you could end up with a show selling out or opportunities for professional theatre outside of school or even a movie-musical. Anything is possible with this group, and that is why I will be donating long after I graduate. I believe in the power of art and storytelling, and I believe that having that capability at Johns Hopkins will do a world of good for both students and the community. Thank you.

Hello! My name is Hanna Al-Kowsi, and I’m the incoming President of the Johns Hopkins University Barnstormers, the largest and oldest theater group at Hopkins.  Times have, undoubtedly, been tough; it would be remiss of me to say that this past year has been easy on any of us.  In times like these, the arts can often provide us with a form of escape, an opportunity for some moments of joy.  It’s now that we realize just how meaningful the arts can be.

With that in mind, I am asking you to consider contributing to our fundraiser.  Things are a bit in flux for us right now but we are trying to make sure our group can continue to give you the best that we can give.  Your support can make that possible. Thank you.

In the Spring of 2021 the Barnstormers hosted their final virtual production, The Drowsy Chaperone, in the beloved Swirnow Theatre and are eagerly awaiting a new Student Center with a new theatre. In the meantime, the longest running student performance group at Hopkins will be setting up shop in the Arellano theatre of Levering.

We exceeded our fundraising goal - Thank you to all of our supporters!

If you are eligible to receive an incentive you should receive it in the next few weeks!
