In the Math, Computer Science, and Data Science department, we see how a John Carroll education impacts each student we work with on a daily basis. If you are an alum from one of the MCDS programs, I'm sure you remember at least one meaningful experience from your time at JCU! The Math, Computer Science, and Data Science department would like you to help pass that memory on to the next generation of JCU students!
We are looking to raise money from this year's Day of Giving to support initiatives that directly impact our students such as:
- Stipends for student research: Students are partnering with faculty in all disciplines to explore new areas of research-especially in the new AL Lab!
- Travel to conferences: For students who have already completed research or just want to learn more about where to start, local and national conferences provide a wonderful opportunity.
- Entrance fees for competitions: Our students are eager to compete in Hackathons and other competitions. This winter 9 JCU students participated in the COMAP modeling competition, and we hope to have more teams next year!
- Certification tests: Many students need to take exams for their careers, such as students minoring in Actuarial Science.
- Guest speakers: As part of our new Career Prep Student Series, we aim to bring in several guests who can speak about their careers and experience in the field.
Our goal is to give students a memorable and valuable experience, provide them with the necessary knowledge and confidence to apply it in the real world, and help them prepare for their future careers. Thank you for supporting the Department of Math, Computer Science, and Data Science!
