More than half of Gwynedd Mercy University's students are making a difference in their lives and their communities by being the first in their families to attend college. First-Generation students face unique challenges as many of them are also parents, caregivers, veterans, first-generation Americans and/or come from limited financial means. Our Mercy Mission is to meet and nurture the needs of these students academically, socially and emotionally as they navigate their time on campus and persist to graduation. The GMercyU community has developed resources and services in our campus community that directly serve first-generation students and allow them to succeed, including Catherine's Cupboard, The Griffin Scholar's Program, The Student Success Center and The Center for Teaching and Learning.
#GivingTuesday2024 at GMercyU launches on on November 8, 2024 - National First-Generation Student Day - to raise awareness and increase support of these trailblazing Griffins. Your gift this year supports our first-generation students and the services that support their time at GMercyU. Please make your gift today!
Maria Jordan teaches and mentors our nursing students, many who, like her, are the first in their families to go to college.
