Tuxes for Tony

This campaign ended on January 31, 2019, but you can still make a gift to Georgetown University by clicking here!

Please join us on November 16th for Tuxes for Tony, as we remember our dear friend and colleague, Tony Salah

During this season of giving, our goal is to raise awareness and funds for charitable causes. Tony taught us, by the way he lived his life, that we should give of our time, talent and treasure to those in need. Anton "Tony" Salah, our friend and colleague for more than 26 years, passed away following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

This November, during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, we are hosting our annual Tuxes for Tony event. The idea developed from Tony's disdain for business casual dress, which the firm permits on Fridays during the summer. Besides being a principled hard worker, Tony prided himself on his and the entire Merrill Lynch office's professional appearance. In fact, only two weeks after a serious skiing accident in which he broke 27 bones, Tony arrived at work in full business attire. He never dressed casually at the office.

In Tony's honor, our entire market has been invited to dress in formal attire on November 16th and make a gift to Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Another 29,200 men will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States in this year alone. Our goal is to raise $29,200 in honor of each of those men who will face what Tony faced.

Georgetown Lombardi was one of the first National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers in the country and remains the only such center in the greater D.C. area. NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers like Georgetown Lombardi attract the best and the brightest doctors, nurses, scientists, and researchers. And when you attract the best, you do the best work. With the help of its supporters, Georgetown Lombardi continually develops exciting new technologies for cancer care, attracts the greatest talent in the field of cancer, and helps patients live longer with a higher quality of life.

Ending Cancer Starts Here. Georgetown Lombardi. Washington’s only Comprehensive Cancer Center.
