About

Jacob Burns Law Library Pandemic Support

Your gifts today allow GW Law scholars to thrive by providing continued use of facilities with ample resources to ensure their success. We invite you to make a philanthropic commitment to the Jacob Burns Law Library in their efforts to put student service first!

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Associate Dean Scott Pagel and Law Library staff have gone above and beyond to support GW Law students. They worked tirelessly to facilitate the use of resources for students, as one of the few law libraries in the country to remain open the entirety of the pandemic. Whether these efforts involve mailing, scanning, or coordinating no-contact pick up, Associate Dean Pagel refuses to leave students without such essential support. Recognizing the limitations of studying and testing from home, extensive safety measures have been taken to allow students to return to the library for exams. From plexiglass barriers and book sanitizing machines to socially distanced seating and expanded workspaces, no precaution is too much to ensure students have a safe place to focus and succeed.

Call to Action from 3L Vice President of Student Enrichment Services, Richard Samboy

"Shout out to Dean Pagel and team. They have made a tremendous impact in alleviating the difficulties that first generation professionals or low income individuals and students face."

Casebooks can cost between $250-300 per book. Support students today by helping the Jacob Burns Law Library purchase more of these books, so that students don't have to.

An Update From SBA's Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Jordan E. Michel

[Video Transcript] Law School is expensive and law school case books are expensive. As a first generation low income law student, I depend heavily on the resources of the Jacob Burns Law Library. Your donation will help the law school library continue to provide support to students like me when we need it the most. During the pandemic, the grab-n-go pick up service has served to provide access to resources that students might not have otherwise during this pandemic. So please, donate today and help allow the law library to continue to increase support for students. Thank you!
