The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Education & Human Development (GSEHD) prepares students to debate and engage in some of our nation’s most important policy issues. We believe that education has been and will continue to be the single greatest contributor to the public good and the nation’s future. That means fostering an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including through scholarship and programmatic opportunities for our students, is of the utmost importance. Your support on Giving Day enables us to prepare the next generation to tackle tomorrow’s educational and organizational development challenges for the betterment of our community, our society, and our world.

"There has always been a passion in my heart for teaching. Growing up as a daughter of Iranian immigrant parents, I am always in awe thinking that they risked moving halfway around the world in order to give us the chance to pursue greater opportunities. I felt the weight on my shoulders of not knowing if my dream career was able to be realized as COVID-19 began impacting our lives. However, I was incredibly blessed and humbled by receiving the Sylven Seid Beck Endowment Award. Because of the generous donation of the donors of this award, I have been able to receive one of the best educator-preparation programs that is preparing me for a lifetime of teaching from the heart. Thank you infinitely for helping to make dreams like mine come true and letting me call GSEHD home." Pary A., GSEHD ’21

GSEHD Student Aid

GSEHD Student Aid ensures that qualified students, regardless of financial resources, can take full advantage of a GSEHD education. Student aid helps reduce the loan burdens of GW graduates so the cost of their education will not limit their ability to make their mark on the world. A contribution of any size to support student aid bolsters the education of tomorrow’s educators and leaders.

GSEHD Dean’s Fund

The GSEHD Dean’s Fund is a critical resource dedicated to enhancing the entire student experience. This fund is used to amplify academic programs and support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. It is also used to amplify academic programs and expand opportunities for students to hone their professional skills through conferences or research needs.

The GWTeach fund supports a program partnership with GSEHD and the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences (CCAS), geared toward training undergraduate STEM majors with the knowledge necessary to be STEM educators upon graduation. Students take part in classroom field experiences under the mentorship of master teachers and classroom teachers. Students who complete the GWTeach program graduate with a bachelor’s in a chosen STEM field, a minor in STEM teaching, and licensure as a middle or high school teacher in the District of Columbia.
