FHU Challenge 2020 Sigma Rho
Become an advocate and show your support today!
FHU Family--you’ve been issued a bigger and bolder challenge! Today, when you and 749 others make a gift during FHU Challenge 2020, anonymous donors will make a $150,000 gift to benefit FHU students.
As one of the campus groups participating in the FHU Challenge, Sigma Rho is raising money for the Shane Ruiz Memorial Endowment Fund. This fund memorializes former FHU student, Shane Ruiz, who was serving on the club's annual spring break mission trip to the Dominican Republic when he lost his life in 2008.
On this mission trip, we primarily work with Manna Christian School to conduct various service projects and host a nightly VBS, but we also visit the local children’s home in Rio San Juan and host a VBS for them.
Our club members really enjoy the opportunity to spend time with the children at Manna and the children’s home, teaching them more about the Bible and getting to know them better.
Each year, the endowment fund provides income to assist with the financial expenses incurred by members of Sigma Rho, who take part in the mission effort.
To help meet our overall challenge of 750 donors and to grow this endowment fund so that it will help more students spread the Gospel on this life-changing trip, we're asking you to contribute again this year and help Sigma Rho exceed their goal of $6,000.
Will you support the Black and Gold and make a gift today to support the Shane Ruiz Memorial Endowment Fund?
In the event that COVID prevents overseas travel, a stateside mission trip is being explored for this year. In the event COVID prevents all travel for mission trips, these funds will be retained in the endowment fund and provide a greater benefit to students the following year.
