About

The Brandon Holiday Memorial Scholarship is an endowed scholarship at Freed-Hardeman University that is dedicated to ensuring the legacy of the late Brandon Holiday, or “B-Holla” as he was known to friends. Brandon attended FHU, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and a Master’s in Bible with an emphasis in Youth Ministry.

Brandon hoped to become a youth minister in the church, but these plans were derailed after he was diagnosed after graduation with an inherited disorder, Ataxia. The disease quickly sapped Brandon’s strength and mobility. He passed away in August of 2021.

B-Holla was a superhero to those who knew him. He had a joy for life and the Lord that was infectious, and his example of persistent service in the face of hardship was and is an example to us all.

We want to ensure Brandon’s legacy by creating this scholarship at FHU, supporting young men of color who attend Freed-Hardeman University and major in Youth Ministry. We believe the church needs more Brandon Holidays, and we want you to help us make sure we keep Brandon’s legacy alive.

Who is this scholarship for?

This scholarship is for young men of color who attend FHU and major in Youth Ministry. If such a student is not available for awarding the funding, the funding will then go to a male student of color majoring in Bible. If the first two categories of the award are not met, the award will go to any student majoring in Youth Ministry, Bible, or Missions at FHU during that academic year.

Where will my money go?

Every penny of your donation will go to support the endowment of the scholarship. FHU pays the processing fee for all donations, so none of your money will go anywhere other than the scholarship.

The funds will be invested by FHU and used to support the awarding of the scholarship. When we reach $30,000, the scholarship will start awarding to students. Each year, the scholarship will award an amount that is around 5% of the current scholarship balance.
