Bronx Community Relief

This campaign ends on September 30 at 10:23AM EDT

Just as the nation has suffered this summer, so has the Bronx. Our neighbors have been shaken—spiritually, physically, financially—by civil strife and the coronavirus pandemic, and the systemic oppression of Black and Latinx people in our community continues to cry out for remedy. Fordham is committed to doing more to address the ills afflicting people of color locally. We can, and we must.

Many of you have asked how you can help, and we are grateful. Our community certainly needs your support.

The University is launching many new efforts to work in solidarity with community residents, organizations, and businesses while advancing efforts toward equity and justice. And other efforts are aimed at helping local merchants, like the dozens of businesses on Fordham Road that suffered property damage or merchandise losses earlier this summer.

Your gift to Bronx Community Relief will help Bronx businesses recover and thrive, and strengthen the community over the long term, by supporting the following initiatives:

  • The Fordham Business Development Collaboratory, comprising a diverse group of over 50 Fordham students who will advise Bronx businesses on finance, compliance, marketing, and technology, free of charge.
  • The Fordham Foundry’s longstanding Metro Consulting Initiative, which provides free consulting and assistance to local businesses, in partnership with community boards, business improvement districts, and other local entities.

As a Jesuit, Catholic university, we are called to love our neighbors and to do more to put that love into action. By supporting initiatives at Fordham that aid local businesses and make us better partners to our fellow Bronx residents, we can help make Fordham a more just and equitable place.
