Jessica Harvey, daughter of Guy Harvey, was born and raised in the Caribbean. Her love of the wildlife and the outdoors was inspired by her parents and led her into her career as an environmental conservationist. Now as the new CEO of the Guy Harvey Foundation, Jessica will work with her team to expand the STEAM driven marine educational resources provided by the foundation and it’s partners to move our global community towards a greener economy and healthier environment – one country at a time. Her role lies predominantly with education. Partnering with local NGOs, Government departments, corporations and private citizens, Jessica and her team plan creative ways to engage the community and bring awareness to the importance of a balanced and healthy marine ecosystem.
This year's Science Week 2024: Celebrating 10 Years of Science! will be honoring a significant milestone as it was in 2014 that Barbara Blonder and Dr. Terri Seron started the Environmental Science major at Flagler College. As the faculty mentors who implemented the Capstone Symposium 10 years ago, Professors Blonder and Seron will lead the marquis occasion showcasing our students and their research in the now, Coastal Environmental Science (CES) and Biology programs. The Coastal Environmental Science program is strongly grounded in experiential learning and undergraduate research and is among the top four majors at Flagler College. As this program continues to gain popularity combined with the recent addition of a Biology major, the department has seen a need for the expansion of the science faculty, addition of a science modular laboratory, equipment upgrades and academic scholarships in order to meet the student needs. Sponsorships and fundraising will provide funding with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the science program. Science Week: Celebrating 10 Years of Science! will showcase research being conducted by our faculty and students, grow awareness of the Flagler sciences in the community, and raise financial support for the science program. It promises to be an educational and enriching experience for the local community as well as people from around Northeast Florida and beyond. We hope you will join in supporting this year’s Science Week: Celebrating 10 Years of Science, including this Science of Wine event!
An extended thank you to your Lead Sponsor, Siemens, for their continued support!
