Show your ๐ for Durham Academy!
DA Giving Day is your chance to give back and give thanks to the person who made a difference in your life at Durham Academy.
On Giving Day, success is about participation — itโs a way for anyone to support the DA Fund at any level.
#DAGivingDay is a 24-hour fundraising event driven by the entire DA community.

A gift of any size helps to unlock a $12,000 challenge gift!
Thank you Selene and Zankhna Parekh!
Did you already make a gift to the DA Fund this year? Thank you — and join us today! Almost half of last yearโs gifts were from donors who had already supported the DA Fund.
Thousands of dollars in matches and challenges are available throughout the day to double your impact.
The current DA class with the highest participation percentage wins a froyo party!
Donors from the alumni class with the highest participation percentage will be entered into a drawing for a $200 Marriott gift card.
Middle School history teacher Jeff Boyd is donating $1 for every new faculty gift.
Your support makes a difference in the lives of every student, every teacher, every day. Join your fellow Cavaliers and show your ๐ for DA!
Spread the word!
CavNation. #DAFamily. Thank you. Your generosity, your energy, your support and the love youโve shown for Durham Academy today has been incredible.
From volunteers standing in car lines to get parents pumped up for the day, to alums reaching out to motivate classmates across the miles, to the hundreds of you who made gifts and created incredibly generous matches and challenges today to thank DA for making a difference in your life or the lives of your children or grandchildren — we are so incredibly grateful!
Thank you to Roger and Lisa Jeffs for their generous $10,000 challenge to push us past last yearโs goal. The DA community has raised more than $190,000 and unlocked more than $22,000 in matches and challenges in just over 12 hours for every student, teacher and staff member at this school, to make their DA experience the best it can be.
Youโre all amazing!
Thereโs still a DA class froyo party and an alumni $200 Marriott gift card that have yet to be claimed. Their winners will be announced tomorrow, but they could be influenced by the matches still in play, so keep going!

Roger Jeffs โ79 just challenged us to beat last yearโs Giving Day total of 1,080 gifts. If we do it by midnight, it unlocks $10,000 for Durham Academy!
If you picked up your phone in 1979 it had a cord attached to it, and it certainly wasnโt connected to your computer, your movie theater, your t-v, your Atari (look it up, kids), your albums, your favorite stores, or your credit card. You only used it to talk to people. Weird, right?
So, let's celebrate the technological advances since then. Hit pause on whatever youโre streaming right now, pull up www.da.org/givingday on your phone, and in 5 minutes, youโll be one of the 50+ people itโs going to take to help DA reach this goal.
West Coast Cavs — can you help us get to 1,081 by midnight?!
Cavs, you are simply amazing. We are stunned and grateful for your generosity and support. We appreciate every single one of you who helped us reach 1,000 gifts and unlock $12,000 to support DA students and teachers. THANK YOU!!! And many thanks to Selene and Zankhna Parekh for their generous challenge today! #DAFamily ๐

But, DON'T STOP!!! There are still matches and challenges in play that can double the impact of your gift. Plus, we have a surprise coming up in just a few minutes… stay tuned!
1385 days ago by Leslie KingWe're seeing awesome alumni #DAGivingDay participation — from the Classes of 1991, 1998 and 2005 who are leading the way with the highest participation, to the Classes of 1979, 2005, 1987 and 1991, who are leading the way in dollars raised. Thank you to Kent Cheeseborough, Stephen Barringer, Margie Gudaitis Hess, Adam Lang, Sterling Mah Ingui and Tyler Elkins-Williams for offering matching gifts to motivate DA alums!!! #OnceACavAlwaysACav ๐
Donโt forget, members of the class with the highest alumni participation percentage will be entered into a drawing for a $200 Marriott gift card!
DA fam, we are 95, that's 9-5 gifts away from unlocking a $12,000 challenge gift. Every gift, no matter what size, counts toward the goal. We're so close — come on Cavs! Let's hit it!
First thingโs first: weโre at 80% of our goal, Cavs! Also, since we know youโre wondering, we thought we might update you on some friendly participation-based competitions going on behind the scenes of DA Giving Day. ๐
Ready?
- Itโs a battle royale between current DA classes trying to win the froyo party! Grades K, 6 and 8 are leading the way with grades 9 and 11 close behind. Who. Will. Win?
- Thereโs a 3-way tie between the Classes of 1991, 1998 and 2015 to be entered into a drawing for a $200 Marriott gift card.
- AND because Middle School teachers Jeff Boyd and Teresa Engebretsen offered matches for faculty and staff, they made 57 new gifts today!
When your entire community of parents, faculty and staff, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends reaches out to support you, itโs time to say thanks. Thank you to the 700+ donors who have joined in the #DAGivingDay fun so far! Because of this incredible outpouring of support, we've raised more than $120K and every alumni class from the 2010s, 2000s and 1990s is represented!
Thank you to Cavs who are joining in from Washington to Wisconsin, from Virginia to Vermont and from the Sunshine State to South Carolina! Don't forget, 1,000 gifts unlocks $12,000 for DA — let's keep going!!!
