Celebrate Dominican’s first-generation students this holiday season!
Did you know that a quarter of Dominican undergraduate students are the first in their families to attend college? Maybe you were one of them!
To be the first in anything requires courage, determination, and a robust support system. That’s why Dominican provides opportunities for first-generation students to build a sense of belonging in the university community, and the resources and guidance to help them succeed in their academic journey.
You can make the college transition a bit easier by supporting one of these priority areas:
First Generation Scholarship—established by Maria Alvarez Pineda ’20 and Erika Rosales-Shelfo ’17, specifically for first-generation students at Dominican.
Torch Student Success Program—offering an intensive summer bridge program and year-round events designed to support academic persistence, build community, and provide mutual support for first-gen students.
Your gift of $100 or more will earn you a one-of-a-kind Dominican tote bag featuring your favorite spots on campus. The tote bag is exclusively for donors, so get your hands on one today!
