Opportunity [op-er-too-ni-tee]
noun - A set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.
For more than 25 years, Rich Kaufusi has dedicated himself to creating a set of circumstances that made it possible to do something- something big- something momentous- something that changed lives. But, it wasn’t for himself, nor for a few people, but for hundreds of Opportunity Scholar students and alumni.
On May 31, 2022, Rich will leave the Opportunity Scholars Program, the University and the people he loves for a new calling, to serve others through a mission with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. While Rich steps into this new chapter, we want to acknowledge and thank him for all he has given to the University and most importantly the Opportunity Scholars Students.
Please join us in honoring Rich Kaufusi by making a gift to a scholarship in his name. Our goal is to create an endowed scholarship fund that would award a scholarship to an Opportunity Scholars student each year, and Rich’s impact would continue on. The Rich Kaufusi Endowed Scholarship will be administered by the David Eccles School of Business and will benefit students in the Opportunity Scholars Program at the University of Utah. In the event that the minimum threshold of $25,000 needed to establish an endowment isn't met within two years, funds will be awarded as an annual scholarship in Rich’s honor.
Mālō ʻaupito, Rich! We wish you the best in your next adventure to Tonga!
