About

Please join us in honoring Mark Peacock.

Our goal is to create a scholarship in Mark’s name. The Mark Peacock Memorial Scholarship will be administered by the David Eccles School of Business and will benefit students in the Executive MBA Program at the University of Utah. Our goal is to raise $25,000 and award this scholarship at $5,000 a year for five years.

Mark Peacock passed away in April 2021 after a short and surprising battle with cancer. One day he was sitting with his EMBA classmates, making them laugh and look at the world differently. The next day he was battling in the hospital.

Mark worked as a valued member of the Executive Education Department at the University of Utah. He also loved that he was able to be an Executive MBA student at his beloved University.  His relationships created at work carried through to class, with professors often going out of their way to engage with Mark.  His ability to make anyone feel like they had been long time friends, even if you had just met, was only one part of what made Mark such an authentic friend.  Mark was interested in you and what you had to say, if for nothing more than just enjoying the time with you.  He truly could elevate an entire room just by being present.   While Mark was in the EMBA program, he had humble concerns about his ability to accomplish the workload or to stay up with class contributions.  But most often the members of his Cohort were learning from Mark. This scholarship is partially intended to help others who might feel like Mark- a bit out of place and feeling like they don’t belong in the EMBA program. This scholarship will provide both financial support to the recipient, but more importantly will let them know they aren’t alone in that feeling.  Mark’s passing was tragic specifically knowing we have lost someone who was so invested in the success of the program as a whole. We want to support the next individual who is just as invested.  Not in only bettering themselves, but in bringing others along to the top with them
