The Center for Business Health and Prosperity is a leader in prosperity science at the U—and around the world. By combining innovation and entrepreneurship with health-enabling practices, The Center for Business, Health, and Prosperity helps individuals and communities achieve economic, social, and political well-being. They have supported everything from pandemic-relief efforts here in Utah to learning abroad and research opportunities in Ghana. The Center is place where faculty, staff, students, and partners gather to engage in and advance prosperity science that improves the quality of life in communities around the world.
Highlights of some of the Center’s student experiences:
Prosperity Scholars
A transformative co-curricular student organization to ensure University of Utah students engage academically, personally, and professionally across campus. The experience looks to advance learning and engagement in prosperity science. The culmination of this student experience will be through the practical application of prosperity science in Ghana and England. The program will award a $1,000 Eccles Global Ghana and England program learning abroad scholarship to outstanding student leaders and participants.
Eccles Global Fall and Spring Break Course in Ghana
In partnership with Eccles Global, the Center for Business, Health, and Prosperity offers an exclusive program, a 10-week course on economic development, and then a chance to work with local entrepreneurs in Ghana over a week during fall or spring break. Through the course work, students prepare to engage in hands-on prosperity promotion through effective business strategy consulting during fall or spring break in Ghana.
Eccles Global Summer Course – Ghana and University of Oxford
The Center for Business, Health, and Prosperity proudly partners with Eccles Global to offer a 4-week immersive experience at the University of Oxford and Ensign Global College in Kpong, Ghana through BUS-3800 -Business Development in Emerging Markets. After time in England, student head to Ensign Global College to get their first-hand experience of living and working in a country that is emerging right before their eyes. Time is spent in the classroom to lay the groundwork on the latest in health and development before starting to work with communities and industries on programs and projects designed to move the country and communities forward.
Prosperity Internships
Prosperity Internships offer students opportunities to develop real-life skills to support a future career and educational goals. This is a unique approach for students to set themselves apart. Internships are open to all majors and topics. Past projects have included developing franchise models and assessments for the Health 2 Go program and developing vision and program goals for the new Institute for Community Health and Development.
