Teach to Columbus

By Jim Rubin

This campaign ended on July 23, 2017, but you can still make a gift to Columbus State University by clicking here!

Teach to Columbus is an ongoing project that involves collaboration with Columbus, Ga public schools and Columbus State University (CSU). The design and scope of the project is responsive to the need to encourage leadership development in CSU’s teacher education program, encourage student voice in the creation and implementation of creative lesson planning, encourage community engagement through the encouragement of high school students who have future aspirations of working in the field of education, and offer fourth grade students an opportunity to participate in an exciting venue for learning. The original appeal of the project related to the competitive aspect of American Idol, in that through a series of preliminary events, winners were chosen who moved on to subsequent tiers, which culminated in a national winner. The germination of the project has formed a foundation in Columbus, Ga. We are seeking potential donors to invest in this worthwhile program/competition. Our goal for 2017-2018 is $5000. This funding will allow us to:

  • Offer each high school student participant an award based on 20% of all funds raised through donations
  • Offer participating schools an award based on 80% of all funds raised through donations

Your financial contribution is key to supporting the continued success and implementation of the Teach to Columbus project.

We thank you in advance for your support! You can either donate through this campaign, or call the CSU Office of Development at 706-507-8945.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Rubin
