CSU Nursing School Researchers in Ireland
This campaign ended on May 20, 2017, but you can still make a gift to Columbus State University by clicking here!

We are five undergraduate nursing students from Columbus State University who look forward dedicating our careers to discovery, innovation, and the continual quest to provide the most optimal level of care to our patients, their families, and our community. We would like to begin by investigating possible solutions to an issue that we have seen firsthand- high nursing school attrition rates.

So what can you do to help? Support our research!

We want to begin a dialogue that is focused on reducing nursing student attrition rates in an attempt bring more qualified nurses into patient care, and reduce the impact of the nursing shortage both in our community and nationwide. We want to take a holistic approach, and investigate the relationship between stress, coping, and personality traits in nursing students. There here has been no research into the relationship between these three factors in nursing students in the U.S. in at least a decade, to our knowledge. Nursing students frequently report the newfound stress of nursing school as the single most significant factor in the “burn out” feeling. Therefore, research into this area may shed some light on how to reform nursing education approaches that not only produce larger numbers of qualified nurses, but also equip nurses with individualized coping strategies to facilitate less burn out and better patient care for years to come.  CSU's School of Nursing has agreed to support our endeavors as we gather research and present our findings.

We hope to present our findings at the Sigma Theta Tau International Research Congress in Dublin, Ireland this summer to discuss possible solutions based on our research with nursing researchers and educators from around the world. Your tax-deductible gift will support our research and allow us to share our findings, as well as future CSU School of Nursing priorities for student development. By making a gift today, you will help future nursing students in the region and beyond! Also, don't forget to make your gift in honor of your favorite nursing student by selecting one of their names from the drop-down menu!

We would like to thank all of our supporters and donors for their commitment to nursing education and quality patient outcomes, both locally in Columbus as well as throughout the global healthcare community.
