Mines Veterans Alliance: PTSD Awareness

This campaign ended on November 16, 2017, but you can still make a gift to Colorado School of Mines by clicking here!

Mines Veterans Alliance is an organization created with the intent of building community, fundraising, raising awareness, and supporting both active and veteran service men and women, their families, as well as students, alumni, staff and faculty of the Colorado School of Mines.

PTSD Awareness Event: November 9, 2017

"Mental Health, Post-Traumatic and Stressor-Related Events"

Mines Veterans Alliance is pleased to present the first annual PTSD Awareness Event, an evening to promote mental health during and after a traumatic event. Join our panel of local community partners and mental health professionals in a discussion about:

  • current evolution of mental health,
  • how to recognize affects of trauma or other stressor-related events, and
  • how to provide assistance to someone in need.

Your gift to the Mines PTSD Awareness event will enable Mines Veterans Alliance to provide students, family, faculty, staff and other community members with:

  • resources to identify signs of PTSD
  • ways to overcome the sigma(s) of PTSD
  • techniques for managing PTSD in the classroom
  • mental health first aid practices for campus

Funds raised beyond our goal of $1,500 will go towards promoting and supporting the veteran community at Mines.

Thank you for supporting our mission to advance Colorado School of Mines as the most veteran-friendly school in the nation!

Be sure to join us for the event on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in Ballrooms A & B of the Ben Parker Student Center.
