CSM Athletics Giving Tuesday 2019

On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, CSM Athletics will join thousands of colleges and nonprofits around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity by participating in #GivingTuesday, a 24-hour online giving event using social media.
Join us this year by donating to the Athletic Programs at CSM. Gifts of every size, contributed on #GivingTuesday by people like you, will help transform lives right here in Southern Maryland.
Give to an individual CSM athletic team that is nearest to your heart or donate to General Athletics to fund one of the following initiatives.
Charter Transportation $40,000
Currently our part-time coaches who work additional full-time time jobs drive our athletes in college owned vehicles to transport them to and from games. Using a charter company instead would benefit both the Student Life and Athletic Department as well as Facilities Department (responsible for fleet maintenance) by ensuring student athlete safety and preventing unexpected breakdowns or worse, accidents.
National Fund $25,000
CSM has qualified and participated in the NJCAA National Championships in both the sports of men’s basketball and golf the last two academic years. The expense of national participation is costly so instead of scrambling to find the funds if a team qualifies, it would be helpful to have designated amount for that purpose.
Covered Benches for Soccer/Lacrosse $30,000
The field was renovated and upgraded in 2011 to the beautiful field we are using today. Athletics is in the process of upgrading the bleachers and surrounding fence line to update the soccer and lacrosse stadium. The last update to complete the stadium would be the bench set up for both the home and away teams. These would be covered benches to keep the weather off and the teams out of the sun for any home game events at the college.
New Hardwood Gym Floor $200,000
Our gym was last updated in 2001. Members of the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference have focused on updating and improving gyms including the addition of wood floors. Most recently, La Plata High School and McDonough High School have completed their projects. The College of Southern Maryland's gym floor is a multi-purpose urethane surface and not the traditional wood floor considered a prestigious focal point of the facility. To attract Southern Maryland students and athletes to CSM, it is important for our facilities to be similar, if not better, than our local high schools.
