About

Working Toward Equity

Alumnae and friends of the College of Saint Benedict, along with faculty and staff, are taking steps to create an anti-racist campus community. As one part of that ongoing effort, alumnae and the college have worked together to create an endowed scholarship to “support the educational promise of young Black American leaders”: the Breonna Taylor Scholarship for Racial Justice.

In recognition of the college’s identity and mission as a college for women, campus and alumnae leaders chose to lift up the name of a woman killed at the hands of police. Women’s voices and identities are often silenced and forgotten, and we believe that this scholarship will be an enduring way to remember women who are often overlooked in the national narrative and fight for justice. This scholarship will support women with financial need whose identities are under-represented at the College of Saint Benedict, with special consideration given to Black or African-American women.

We have much left to do, but when you make a gift, you continue our work to combat racism on our campus. You help promote a more racially diverse campus. And you support the education of Black and African-American women who themselves will be leaders in shaping a more just and equitable world.

Thank you for being allies in our work in creating a transformatively inclusive community here on campus and in our communities around the world.
