About

In response to challenging times and in an effort to combat an increase in food insecurity in our local community, Colby-Sawyer College has established the new Main Street Garden directly across from the campus and next to the President’s House. This project was created in partnership with the New London Hospital, FEED Kearsarge, Spring Ledge Farm, and the Kearsarge Food Hub.

While our original plans included three phases that would roll out over several years, development ramped up in response to a spike in food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. This summer held plans for a four-row system, which was expanded to 15 rows, prepped with 200 potato and 100 butternut squash plants. All food produced in the garden was given to local agencies to address the needs of their constituents.

Please make a gift today and help Colby-Sawyer continue to fight food insecurity in the Kearsarge-Lake Sunapee region for years to come.
