May 21st was a beautiful day in Cleveland for both the half marathon and the medical school graduation. Happily, I was successful at completing the run in time to also attend the ceremony at Severance Music Center. Please join me in supporting future graduates with a donation to the Level Up Fund or the Catalytic Fund by June 30th. Thank you!
The Level Up Fund helps students in need of additional dollars to access resources not covered by financial aid. Much is demanded of medical students as they navigate a complex learning environment. Some examples of additional expenses are conferences or symposia, development and leadership opportunities, and test preparation materials. “We admit students under the concept of holistic admissions and we are duty bound to provide support so all students have access to similar tools and experiences.” –Steve Ricanati, MD (MED ’95) Associate Dean, SOM Office of Student Affairs.
The Catalytic Fund is managed within the Dean’s Office and each year it addresses critical needs across the School of Medicine programs. Some examples include student scholarships, equipment vital to completing a research project, matching funds for a grant supporting research or community activities, and other priorities.
