Giving Tuesday: A Tradition of Generosity at CWRU
Each year, just days after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday unites people around the world in a celebration of generosity and philanthropy. It’s a day dedicated to creating a culture of gratitude and giving back, fueled by the collective power of small acts of kindness.
At Case Western Reserve University, Giving Tuesday is a time to bring together all those who care deeply about our community and mission. It’s proof that even the smallest contributions, when combined, can create a profound impact on our campus.
We’ve learned there’s no greater gift than working with individuals who share our commitment to making a difference and pushing the boundaries of possibility.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join the CWRU tradition of giving. Support the student groups, organizations, or causes that mean the most to you—because your participation helps shape the future of our university. Together, we can continue to empower our community and drive positive change.
The Office of International Student Resources and Engagement provides non-academic support for our international students. However, we know that adjusting to a new environment can be stressful and challenging. We are calling on our CWRU family to come together and help make our international students feel welcome, included, and prepared to thrive on campus. Upon arrival, many are jet-lagged and without basic toiletries, so we aim to offer them a refreshing welcome with toiletry bags stocked with essentials like travel-sized toothpaste, shampoo, soap, quick-dry travel towel, and deodorant. Many of these students who are new to Northeast Ohio do not have the proper winter gear to face the cold weather. Therefore, your donations will help us provide essential coats and boots to students in need. Additionally, students often need professional attire for interviews, internships, and networking events—critical moments in their academic and career journeys. Your gift, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact on their well-being and success. Let’s help provide a smooth transition to our international students so they can be as successful as possible here at CWRU.
48 days ago by Rob Trhlin"A donation will allow AfroAM to propel the support for our student body, as we strive to create a comfortable, uplifting, and educational environment for as many students as possible. This semester we hope to hold more events that make an impact in the surrounding Cleveland area, such as volunteering at local organizations and giving our scholarships to students in and around Cleveland"- Joy Hendrix
49 days ago by Rob TrhlinWe offer organized practices to build a community of people of all skill levels who are passionate about tennis. We work with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and collaborate with other college club tennis teams to arrange competitive match play and travel tournament opportunities. We host intercollegiate tournaments, run various university-wide leagues, and organize beginner clinics. We strive to unite the tennis players on campus, providing opportunities for them to regularly play tennis and grow their love for the sport while in college.
The club has two components, a general membership and a competition team. The general membership participates in community events, from public skating and "Learn to Skate" classes to watch parties for figure skating competitions. The competition team participates in US Figure Skating's Intercollegiate Competition circuit, traveling to three colleges annually to compete for Case Western. The club faces the unique challenge this year of USFS moving CWRU from the Midwest to the Southeast Region. Because of distance and expense, we were unable to make the November competition in Florida. Your donation will allow us to travel to two competitions in Spring 2025.
"Donor support allows us to cover Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition costs and provide more events so people of all experience levels can come learn about horses." -Katherine Berkner, President
50 days ago by Rob TrhlinThe Big Games Club is divided into three different committees, each in charge of planning and running different events. HvZ Core is in charge of running Humans vs Zombies, the campus-wide, 24/7, 10 day long game of tag. The Small Games Committee is in charge of planning some of the smaller events BGC hosts, such as Hide and Seek or Jackbox night. Scavenger Hunt Committee is responsible for the large scale, puzzle solving Scavenger Hunts BGC hosts.
