At Girls of Steel, our mission is clear: We're on a journey to fostering unwavering confidence in individuals of all backgrounds — with a special focus on girls, gender non-conforming individuals and other underrepresented communities — to believe in their ability to thrive in the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). How do we make this happen? By equipping them with essential skills; nurturing their mechanical, technical, leadership and teamwork abilities through the building of awesome robots; and championing an environment of equality and respect.
Our commitment to this cause is year-round, as we passionately drive our robotics and STEM program forward. Today, we're proud to have over 40 girls in grades 9-12 as active participants in our FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team; 15 7th-10th grade girls on our three FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams; and grades K-8 engaging in smaller-scale LEGO robotics projects and exciting competitions.
