About

You have the power to energize the Activities Board Technical Committee today!

Commonly known as AB Tech, we are the production organization charged with handling the technical production of University-sponsored events in and around Pittsburgh. We provide high-quality, professional-grade entertainment production services, including sound reinforcement, lighting design and event management at heavily subsidized rates to our campus community. For larger events, we also coordinate multi-phase/high-load power systems, rigging and trussing, staging rentals, backline rentals and more. From student groups and university faculty to various independent companies and student projects, we're passionate about supporting the growth of our members as they contribute to Carnegie Mellon's technical needs.

Our crew has the rare opportunity to grow interest and passion for the entertainment industry without pursuing the field academically. Through the Development Opportunity Fund, we proudly send three to four of our most involved Tech members to the annual LDI conference for personal enrichment and to gain new industry knowledge every year. This year, we sent four students to LDI. They attended multiple training sessions and demo-ed potential upcoming capital equipment purchases. As our club's number of involved members exponentially increases, we strive to ensure that AB Tech can provide as many members as possible the opportunity to attend LDI at least once in their academic careers.

Giving CMU Day is your chance to illuminate the next bright idea for AB Tech! 💡
