About

You have the power to energize the Software and Societal Systems Department!

In today’s world, computational technologies are embedded in everything – and are the conduit through which we experience and influence the world. At S3D (formerly the Institute for Software Research), we explore this vital intersection — the confluence of software, systems and society — to understand how computational technologies might better serve humanity. Whether it’s IoT, cybersecurity, privacy engineering or so much more, our faculty and students are leading the conversation.

To continue our momentum, we need your support. Your gift to the S3D Departmental Fund provides flexible support that allows us to take advantage of opportunities as they arise, such as recruiting and retaining the best faculty and students or meeting unexpected needs and challenges. Your gift to S3D helps faculty and students continue to perform cutting-edge research at the intersection of software, systems and society, and to change the world.

Giving CMU Day is your chance to illuminate the next bright idea for the Software and Societal Systems Department! 💡
