As AI continues to shape our world, it is essential to ensure that these transformative technologies are developed and implemented in ways that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and do not harm historically marginalized communities. This conversation will explore the challenges and opportunities of integrating DEI principles into AI research, development, and application, and the promise of CMU’s Open Forum for AI initiative (OFAI).

Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Wanda Heading-Grant facilitates an engaging discussion with two experts leading the push to ensure the responsible development of artificial intelligence: Renée Cummings, Assistant Professor of the Practice in Data Science at the University of Virginia, and Sayeed Choudhury, Director of the Open Source Programs Office (OSPO) at CMU Libraries and Director of OFAI.
