Angelina on the power of scholarships:

“I am graduating this semester with my associate degree and transferring to Florida International University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. I received a scholarship during my time here and it has had such a huge impact on me. I am a student who pays out of pocket so the opportunity I was given through the scholarship is invaluable. A student cannot reach their full potential in higher education if they do not have the money to create a sustainable education.” 

Jasmine on the power of scholarships:

“I’m graduating this summer, transferring to FAU to pursue a degree in Psychology. In a world where dreams often remain unrealized due to financial constraints, I’m an example of the transformative power of scholarship funding. The synergy between my scholarship support and my campus involvement is undeniable. Scholarships provide the financial stability needed to pursue a rich extracurricular life. I work within the Student Life department and in student government. The skills and experiences gained through these extracurricular activities translate into valuable attributes in the workforce, such as teamwork, leadership, time management, and communication skills. Scholarships provide the financial stability needed for college students, like me, to engage in a diverse range of extracurricular activities while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. ”

Providing the gift of education through a contribution to the Broward College Memorial Endowed Scholarship is a way of keeping a loved one’s memory alive in perpetuity and creates a legacy for individuals who are being memorialized through educational opportunities the scholarship provides.

Each and every gift to the Broward College Memorial Endowed Scholarship enhances and grows the annual impact of the scholarship by assisting Broward College students attain their dream of a higher education.

The Broward College Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established with gifts from the estate of Arthur Foss, a long-time college professor and with leadership gifts in memory of Broward College employee, Shermone Mitchell, who died while employed at the College in 2018.

The First Generation in College Scholarship helps the dream of being the first in their families to go to college a reality for many students. With 46% of Broward College students being the first in their families to attend college, gifts to this scholarship fund have a tremendous impact with a 2-1 match in funds from the State of Florida. 

Recurring donor, Brittany Valera shares, "Even by putting a small drop in the bucket, I know that a few or more students will be able to finish what they have started as a result of my giving. Even with a small donation, I know that I'm able to make an impact on the lives of Broward College students."

At Broward College, faculty librarians work in partnership with teaching faculty to support students in Broward College’s eight guided pathways. Students who visit the library have access to technology, research appointments, study spaces, information literacy, community engagement, and more.

Dr. Monique Blake, Dean of Libraries and Academic Success Centers at Broward College shares, “Investing in the Broward College Library Program Fund is a direct investment in education, knowledge, and community enrichment. By supporting this fund, you contribute to the intellectual growth of students and the overall development of our community. The library serves as a hub for learning, research, and collaboration, fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation.”

Monthly contributions of $10, $15, or $25, can collectively assist students in covering various expenses, including lab fees, supplies, textbooks, essential technical equipment, and resources that help them succeed. 

Additionally, ongoing contributions of $50, $75, or $100 play a crucial role in supporting students with their tuition and other attendance-related costs. Your regular contributions can make a meaningful impact on the lives of Broward College students.
