Giving Tuesday - Make It Grand
Thanks to the generosity of Brandeisians around the world, we were able to #MakeitGrand by surpassing our goal of 1,000 gifts on the international day of philanthropy.
Alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty and staff made 1,099 gifts, a 46 percent increase from last year’s Giving Tuesday total of 754 and the biggest single fundraising day in University history, based on the number of gifts.
In all, Brandeis raised $391,045, including a matching gift of $141,000 from a group of alumni and friends.
This support will help our students and faculty as they “explore without boundaries,” the phrase used by Nobel laureate Michael Rosbash to describe the unique educational culture at Brandeis
Giving Tuesday has grown into an international day of philanthropy in which donors around the world support the causes that are most meaningful to them.
On November 28, we encourage alumni, parents and friends to join our Grand Gesture on Giving Tuesday by making a gift to Brandeis to help the University secure 1,000 gifts. If we reach our goal and Make it Grand, Brandeis will receive an additional challenge gift of $141,000 from a group of generous alumni and friends.
You can support the area of Brandeis that is most meaningful to you: a club or team, professor or academic department, or scholarships. You may also make a gift to The Brandeis Fund, which supports the University’s top priorities. Gifts of any size are welcome.
Don’t forget to share this ambitious campaign with your friends and family and encourage them to Make it Grand for Brandeis on Giving Tuesday! Please use our social media toolkit to download images for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Madalyn Friedberg, national president of the Brandeis National Committee, is contributing $100,000 toward the challenge gift. Madalyn shares: “I am proud to be part of the Brandeis community, and hope you will join me in supporting our students and the great work being done at this University. I am proud of the incredible faculty that enjoy the benefits of ‘exploring without boundaries,’ and right now am especially proud of our two Nobel Prize recipients.”
Brandon ’08 and Marissa Pick ’07 are also generously supporting the challenge gift. They share: “Brandeis helped form our lives in numerous ways. We met each other, we met our best friends and we received a world-class education. Without the generosity of others, none of that would have been possible.”
