Mr. Cugell is an engaging and encouraging History teacher, who motivated the boys to think outside of the box. Our son would come home almost daily and share some odd facts we knew nothing about and would enthusiastically tell us the historical context. Nearly every day. It became our dinnertime topic! If that's not great teaching, then what is? Mr. McElheny is just plain wonderful. The donuts certainly help, but he teaches math in a very clear, concise manner. He makes everyone understands the concepts, based on their individual learning style... and he's always available for enrichment if you need extra help. Two exceptional teachers!!!

Mr. Detora's remarkable leadership under unprecedented times, and all of the faculty, who have taken on twice the work to achieve the same educational goals. Bravo! Specifically for us: Mr. Crocker has been a tremendous guide through the ever-changing college application process, especially on those stressful deadline days! Mr. Lea has creatively found ways to produce music safely to share with the student body & parents, during these hard times, where many choirs have ceased to perform. Mr. Spearman continues to engage his students in the study of great Latin works, and has shown tremendous value in what many consider a dead language. Mr. Sayles is innovative in his approach to teaching computer science, even taking the boys outside for the occasional class, while juggling the needs of online students. In Multi-variable Calculus, Mr. Chase has been working hard to prepare his students for college math courses, using an innovative by utilizing weekly problem sets. Mr. Custer inspires his history students by discussing and understanding the topics, rather than rote learning. In addition, he brings history to life with his annual civil war reenactments on campus. Ms. Barzun is a challenging teacher, who gives helpful feedback as she guides the boys through complicated novels.

Mr. Coons—He has taught me the importance of being diligent and soft spoken. Coach Coons was an effective fundraiser for Avon who was also very generous with his time. We've had some good tennis matches.

Mr. McElheny—Mr. "Mac" was my former third's soccer coach and math teacher. While I was undistinguished in both endeavors I did, some years later, achieve a near perfect score on the math section of the GMAT. Mr. Mac helped to plant the seed.  It just took longer to grow.

Mr. Peter Evans—I can't say I had a warm and fuzzy relationship with my former AP US History teacher.  He was a hard taskmaster and his criticism - though often well deserved- could sting. Nonetheless, he did contribute to my love of history and helped to prepare me for a world of difficult bosses and clients.

You promised a special Graduation for Class '20 and delivered in a big way! There's not a week that goes by, that I don't think of Avon Old Farms School. And, I'm a Dad that didn't go there. Our Son loved being a 3 year boarding student in Diogenes, then Pelican for 2 years. Now that NY Mets have new Ownership, will there be a Headmaster's Day after each Mets win vs Red Sox?
