Augsburg Historic Films Digitization

This campaign ended on November 16, 2018, but you can still make a gift to Augsburg University by clicking here!

The Augsburg University Archives has 67 historic films that are almost at the end of their playable life. To help celebrate Augsburg's 150th anniversary next year, we have a goal of raising $4,500 to send these recordings to a studio that can preserve and digitize them so that we can share them online.

The films include:

  • Footage of the opening ceremonies of Memorial Hall, Sverdrup Library, and the Science Building;
  • Scenes of Edor Nelson and other important Auggies;
  • Athletic practices and games;
  • One episode of "The Augsburg TV Show" in 1967;
  • Footage of campus life from the late 1930s to the early 1970s.

To be digitized, each film must be played in real time by a trained professional using state-of-the-art equipment. Our history is worth it!

Donations that take us beyond $4,500 will support additional archives digitization projects. Thank you for helping us preserve Augsburg's history!
