Your gift to Augsburg's MFA in Creative Writing will help with the cost of a summer residency fee for one entering student. The award will be competitive, with a preference given to those from groups who have been historically under-represented in American publishing.
The Augsburg MFA in creative writing is a low-residency program with tracks in fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, and playwriting. The program combines three summer residencies with four semesters of mentored and online instruction. MFA students may also pursue concentrations in teaching and publishing. Students enrolled in the publishing concentration work as the staff of Augsburg's publishing house, Howling Bird Press, and publish one book each year.
Our students make a commitment to their writing craft through the MFA program. They go on to be professors, publishers, writers, editors, directors, life coaches, and everything in between. They work for major corporations, for small businesses, and they own their own businesses. But no matter where they are and where they go, they will always be apart of Augsburg's MFA community.
Wow wow wow! We are half way through our Give to the Max campaign and we have already exceeded our goal of $500! A huge thank you to the wonderful friends of the MFA program who made this possible. It's heartwarming to receive this support.
We will continue the campaign through November 18th. Any additional gifts are greatly appreciated, by the MFA program and the future students who will benefit from this scholarship.
Thank you!
