Our English students come from many backgrounds, are interested in many different kinds of literature, and write creatively themselves. This 10-year campaign (we're now in year four) is raising funds for classroom visits from writers and other speakers as well as campus-wide presentations that we would like to sponsor with other Augsburg groups. In the past, we have partnered with Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies to bring alumna Anne Panning back to campus for a reading of her memoir, Dragonfly Notes. We also partnered with QIPoC to bring poet and anthologist Chris Soto in for a reading. To enrich our students' engagement with literature--as readers and as writers themselves--we want to establish a $25,000 fund over ten years. Our aim is to raise $3000 a year--$500 for current use and $2500 to build the reserve, which is our priority. When you give to our English fund, you are extending the literary and artistic horizons of our students, developing the Minnesota arts and literary scene, and contributing to the future of American literature itself. Join us!
We're nearing the end of the 2020 campaign for the English Department Speaker and Event Fund. I'm so grateful. So here's a little, perhaps dubious gift from me to you by way of thanks: Thanks to you, our 2020 donors!
Yours,
Doug Green
1483 days ago by Douglas GreenThanks to all of you who have advocated for and/or donated to the 2020 English Department Speaker and Event Fund. We have now exceeded this year's goal, which brings closer the date at which we have an income-producing fund to enhance our students' encounters with writers and literary scholars. If you can, please spread the word about our fundraiser to other friends of Augsburg, so that we can keep moving down the road. You've elated this impending Spring 2021 retiree by helping to ensure that the good work of my colleagues continues. We're deeply grateful for your support and encouragement.--Prof. Doug Green

We are halfway through the campaign and have already raised our $3,000 goal. Huzzah! We appreciate everyone who has already given. You are extending the literary and artistic horizons of our students, developing the Minnesota arts and literary scene, and contributing to the future of American literature itself.
