In May 2020, the AU Women’s Basketball team will travel to Santiago, Dominican Republic as part of the AU Tri-S program and work alongside GO Ministries. This Christian organization operates leadership academies, sports programs, schools, and medical clinics in some of the poorest areas of the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
The team's time in the Dominican Republic will be spent working on projects that directly support the goals of GO Ministries. Some activities will include coaching basketball camps, working on projects around the various facilities, and helping the middle school and high school girls with their school work. The players will get to see first-hand the lives of people living in poverty, and this trip will have a significant impact on the women in the AU basketball program.
