Anderson University and John Sanders, a donor and Board of Trustee member at AU, have announced a matching gift challenge towards the Berenice Villarreal scholarship. Sanders will match contributions to this fund made prior to August 31, 2022, dollar for dollar up to $50,000.

The Villarreal scholarship is given to assist students from Latin America, other international students, or students who are immigrants to the U.S.

The scholarship is named for Berenice Villarreal, who spent the first 12 years of her life in Mexico City before moving to the United States. Despite hardships to make payments for college, Villarreal graduated as a double major from the University of Texas, San Antonio in accounting and finance.
