There is no denying this has been a challenging year, and one in which we have all experienced some form of loss. Yet, our Charger community continues to fortify the Academy while adapting to ever-changing conditions, enabling us to deliver our mission in new and meaningful ways.
Now, after more than a year of relentless pivoting, our COVID-related expenses have surpassed $1.6 million and continue to accumulate to sustain our beloved campus and community, and ensure the Academy remains intact today and for future generations. As we unite for our traditional Spring Day of Giving, we ask each member of the Academy family to consider making a gift. When the global pandemic forced us to close our campus last March, Academy faculty, staff, physical plant, and administration teams responded quickly. The last year encompassed the necessary pivots that enabled us to remain flexible and deliver the Academy’s mission in new, meaningful ways while providing a safe community, in compliance with public health orders. From classroom, technology and building enhancements to faculty and staffing training to ensure better online learning experiences, all members of the Academy community rallied to help our Chargers endure. We thank you for your friendship and thoughtful philanthropy supporting the Academy during this important time, which sustains us and gives us hope for a very bright future.
