About
Thank you so much for taking action to support our Anthropology and Sociology Department!

- The Anthropology and Sociology Department seeks to honor our dearly missed friend, colleague, and mentor Len Berkey by raising funds for the Len and Ramona Berkey Award.

- For 35 years until his retirement in 2012, Len engaged hundreds of students to wrestle with some of the most complex and controversial aspects of modern American society.

- As Scott Melzer recently remembered him, "He was one of the original anti-racist educators on campus and was one of a handful of faculty whom students of color and other underrepresented students went to first when they wanted mentoring and support.”
- In 2012, Len and Ramona, the love of his life for 35 years, established the Len and Ramona Berkey Endowed Award to support undergraduate students in their scholarship.

- Contributions to this award fund will allow us to offer more and larger awards to support even more students each year—just as Len would have wanted.

Thank you again for your support! Io Triumphe!
