What is Day of Giving?

Hawken's Day of Giving is an annual online fundraising event for the Hawken Fund. On Day of Giving, alumni, parents/guardians, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends of Hawken come together to make a difference for current students. All proceeds on Day of Giving benefit the 2024-2025 Hawken Fund. Limited-time matches and challenges will take your gift even further. 

The primary goal of Day of Giving is community participation. This day is for all of us, and every gift matters!

When is Day of Giving 2024?

Day of Giving 2024 will begin at midnight on Tuesday, October 22nd and end on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:55 am ET. This year's Day of Giving will run for 1,915 minutes. 

Why is Day of Giving lasting for 1,915 minutes?

James A. Hawken opened Hawken School in 1915 on Ansel Road. A campaign that lasts 1,915 minutes is a way to celebrate our school’s history while providing for our students’ futures. 

Where does my gift go?

Gifts toward Day of Giving 2024 will go to the 2024-2025 Hawken Fund. The Hawken Fund is the school's number one fundraising priority and funds 5% of our operating budget. More information about the Hawken Fund can be found here. 

If I designate my gift to “support it all,” where does my money go?

Your gift to “support it all” will go to the 2024-2025 Hawken Fund, and Hawken will apply it to the greatest need. 

Where does the challenge money go?

Like all gifts on Day of Giving, funds for matches and challenges go to the 2024-2025 Hawken Fund. 

Will the amount of my gift be disclosed?

The amount of your gift is only shown if you offer a match or challenge that is not anonymous. Otherwise, your Day of Giving gift amount isn’t disclosed on the campaign page.  

Help! I want to pledge but don’t see the option. 

You can email giving@hawken.edu with your Day of Giving pledge. You will have until June 30, 2025 to fulfill your commitment. 

I'd like to make my gift in honor/in memory of someone, but I don't see that option.

Unfortunately there isn’t the capability to make a tribute gift on this special campaign, but donors can email giving@hawken.edu with an honor/memory gift note. We’ll ensure your special tribute is recorded and recognized during gift processing after Day of Giving. 

What if I already made a gift this academic year?

Thank you for your support! However, only gifts made for this campaign count toward the Day of Giving. If you make an additional gift today, it will count for qualified matches and challenges.
