Q: What is Knight & Day of Giving, and why does PCD do it?

A: Knight & Day of Giving is 24 hours of collaborative fundraising to support the Providence Country Day School. KDOG also can magnify the power of your gift—of any size—through matches and challenges from generous donors. This year will feature personal accounts of the impact of a PCD education, the opportunity to support specific programs that made a difference in your life, and a few surprises. Most of all, KDOG is an opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate our 2023-2024 theme of "unity" as we raise money for everything that makes PCD great, including most importantly our students and faculty.

Q: Why should I give to Knight & Day of Giving?

A: Supporting the mission of educating future leaders requires a great level of commitment from a dedicated community. Every gift—and every supporter, including alumni, parents, and friends—helps ensure that PCD will remain strong and continue to provide accessible quality education that produces graduates who will become responsible citizens of the world. Every gift makes a difference!

Q: How do I decide where to give?

A: There are many giving opportunities and challenges, but they're all important! Your gift will be automatically counted towards any and all challenges/matches for which it fits the description - so for example, a GOLD (Graduate of the Last Decade) from the Class of 2020 who makes a gift to Athletics will unlock BOTH a $500 GOLD match AND a 2:1 match to Athletics...AND if that gift happens to be the 250th gift, it would ALSO unlock the $10,000 challenge gift - wow! Every gift can make a HUGE impact!

Make a gift to whichever designation you are most passionate about, and 100 percent of the gift will go there. As you complete your gift on this site, it will ask you for a "Designation" - you can select the areas you want to support, and indicate the amount for each. Support whichever causes are most meaningful to you, or make a gift to the Annual Fund to allow flexibility to use your gift in the area of greatest need! If you have questions about how your gift will be used, or if there are other designations you are interested in supporting, please contact our Development office at any time.

Q: How do I know how my gift will be used?

A: Your gift will be used for the purpose indicated at the time you make the gift. This is required of all non-profit organizations as part of their legal obligations, and PCD takes this requirement seriously. For gifts to Annual Fund (Area of Greatest Need), your gift will be used for the most urgent needs of the school during the current and/or upcoming academic year - funds given in this way help quite literally keep the lights on by helping pay electricity bills, purchase classroom supplies, recruit and retain quality faculty and staff, perform maintenance and routine repairs on our campus facilities and equipment, supplement the available financial aid provided to families with demonstrated need, and more! This fund is how the school is able to provide exceptional education for each student, keep tuition accessible, and to continue to pursue our mission, vision, and values each day. For those who want to ensure their gift supports specific programs or purposes, such as Athletics, Arts, Financial Aid, or Henry Barnard School, you can select to designate your gift to one or divide into several categories to ensure your gift is utilized for these purposes. All gifts are appreciated and count towards Knight & Day of Giving totals--thank you!

Q: I was part of Henry Barnard School before it joined PCD. Why should I give at all?

A: Gifts designated to Henry Barnard School will be used in support of the continued legacy of the Henry Barnard School, and will be used to benefit the students and teachers in grades PreK-4 through such expenses as equipment and supplies for specials like Chess, STEAM, Art, Library, Gym, etc., recruiting and retaining exceptional teachers, and to provide special experiences and programs for students such as the Wild Life explorations program, field trips, and other expenses related to providing the exceptional HBS experience that generations have enjoyed.

Q: Is it safe to make my gift online? Is there another way to give?

A: The security of your information is very important to us. This website uses encryption to keep your online gift information secure, and any personal information you provide will be kept in accordance with PCD's privacy policy. If you prefer to make your gift a different way, that's okay too! Any questions or concerns can be directed to the PCD Development team by calling 401-438-5170 or email development@providencecountryday.org

Q: Can I give stock for my KDOG gift? What about a Qualified Charitable Distribution?

A: You can always give in stock; and those who are eligible (aged 70 and a half or older in 2024) to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution from a tax-advantaged retirement account. However, due to the short time frame, stock gifts may not count towards KDOG if they are not completed in time. Please contact us in advance if you wish to make a gift in this way, or to discuss any questions related to the potential tax benefits and savings you may find through this type of giving.

Q: Can I make a recurring gift?

A: You can make a recurring gift by selecting that option at checkout. Only the first payment made during KDOG will count toward KDOG totals, but every recurring gift is deeply appreciated as it helps set a reliable source of funding - thank you!

Q: I still have questions not answered here, how can I get in touch?

A: Please feel free to contact us at 401-438-5170 or email development@providencecountryday.org - our offices are typically open Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.

Due to an expected snow storm, school has been cancelled for Day of Giving so there will not be any staff members in the office. We have extended the Knight & Day of Giving through Wednesday to allow for anyone impacted by the storm who wants to participate to have extra time to make their gift or advocate. If you have a time-sensitive question, we will be monitoring and responding to emails throughout the day, or you can call a temporary number created just for this event in order reach a member of the PCD Development team: ‪+1-304-853-6424‬ (just for fun, that's 304-8-KDOG24)
