Rollover Protective Structures (ROPS) protect the tractor operator in the event of an overturn by creating a safety zone. ROPS are proven to be 99% effective in saving lives when worn with a seatbelt. About 50% of U.S. tractors do not have rollover protection.

The main barriers to retrofitting tractors with rollbars is time and money. It takes time to determine the right rollbar for your model of tractor, where to buy it, and where to have it installed. The price of ROPS varies between about $1,000 and $3,500 depending on the tractor.

The NRRP addresses both barriers by providing a hotline to help owners find the right ROPS and by providing a 70% rebate on the purchase of a ROPS kit. Funding comes from multiple sources and is usually provided on a state or regional basis.
