See the Difference You Make

Every gift to the HWS Annual Fund helps create opportunities for students to learn, explore and discover what comes next. Meet six HWS students whose experiences show what your generosity makes possible.

📚SCHOLARSHIPS

Grace McCormick ’28

HWS has been part of Grace's life for as long as she can remember. Her mom, a 1996 alumna, introduced her to campus when she was young, and Grace returned again and again throughout her childhood, growing up knowing that HWS was where she hoped to attend college. An Annual Fund scholarship made that dream possible. As a recipient of the Empower Me Annual Fund Scholarship, Grace is studying psychology, competing as a student-athlete on the William Smith field hockey team, and gaining hands-on research experience alongside HWS faculty and alumni.

đź’ĽINTERNSHIPS

Rupert Ramsay ’27

Through the Frelinghuysen Program, Rupert spent his summer in Washington, D.C., gaining professional experience while interning with Congressman Bill Keating. The experience gave him a firsthand look at what a career in public service could look like after HWS.

🌎GLOBAL EDUCATION

Nicholas Short ’27

A semester in Queensland, Australia, gave Nicholas the chance to pursue his interest in biology in a completely new environment. The experience sparked an interest in ecology, helped shape his academic path and showed him that studying abroad could be part of his HWS education even as a pre-health student.

🔬RESEARCH

Isabella Miller ’28

Last summer, Isabella spent her summer in the Finger Lakes conducting fully funded research with Professor Kristy Kenyon, studying gene interactions using fruit flies. The hands-on experience gave her a closer look at scientific research and helped her consider how research might fit into her future in healthcare.

🎓STUDENT LIFE

Andy Dinh ’27

For Andy, getting involved at HWS has meant finding ways to bring people together. He founded the HWS Cycling Club, serves as a Teaching Fellow and Community Assistant and has turned classroom learning into real-world projects, including developing a system to help a local bakery forecast demand.

đź’™GREATEST NEED

Juliza Ariza ’27

The Annual Fund has helped Juliza make the most of her HWS experience, from financial aid that made college possible to opportunities that have helped her explore a future in healthcare. Through fully funded international internships, she has shadowed physicians in Greece, Italy and the Dominican Republic, experiences that have helped clarify her goal of purusing a career in healthcare.

Your Gift Makes These Experiences Possible

These are six students. There are hundreds more whose HWS experiences are shaped by Annual Fund support every day. Whether it opens the door to an HWS education, provides an opportunity beyond the classroom or gives a student the freedom to discover what comes next, your gift makes a difference where it matters most: in the lives of HWS students.
