🧡 What is the Second Chance Initiative? 🧡
The Second Chance Initiative (SCI) is Campbell University's prison education and reentry program. Established in 2019 through a partnership between Campbell University and the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, SCI provides incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals with access to quality higher education and support services. The program offers degree pathways designed to prepare students for meaningful careers and successful reentry into their communities. Today, SCI serves students at correctional facilities across North Carolina and supports individuals continuing their education after release. Since its launch, SCI students have earned thousands of college credit hours, with dozens of graduates completing associate and bachelor's degrees through the program. Students have also participated in honor societies, internships, leadership opportunities, and academic competitions, demonstrating the transformative impact of education.
