One of the most powerful ways to inspire giving during Celebrate Gannon Day of Giving is by creating your own match or challenge!

When you offer a match or challenge, you are not just making a gift, you are creating momentum for Gannon University’s Day of Giving and encouraging others to join you in supporting our students.

WHY OFFER A MATCH OR CHALLENGE?

• Create urgency – Donors are more likely to give when they know their gift will be matched
• Build momentum – Matches spark excitement and keep the energy high throughout the campaign
• Boost participation – More donors are inspired to give when there is a challenge to meet
• Generate buzz – Encourage sharing and excitement across the Gannon Family
• Maximize impact – Every gift helps move us closer to our goal

SETTING UP YOUR MATCH OR CHALLENGE

You can set up a match by choosing to give a set amount per donor or offering a $1-for-$1 match up to a specific total. Once that amount is reached, your match is unlocked and added to the campaign total.

You can set up a challenge by committing a gift when a specific milestone is reached, such as a certain number of donors or a total dollar amount raised.

Matches and challenges can be customized to support specific groups:

• By affiliation (ex. alumni, parents, students, employees)
• By affiliation and class year (ex. alumni from the Class of 1976 or 2016)
• By class year (ex. all members of the Class of 2021)
• By designation (ex. gifts to the Gannon Fund, Athletics, Campus Ministry, or a specific initiative)
