What is PA Giving Day?

Andover’s annual online event when our global community comes together to support what we love—celebrating and elevating everything that makes our school special.

When is PA Giving Day? 

This event begins at 9 a.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, March 24, and ends at 12 noon (EDT) on Wednesday, March 25. But you don’t need to wait! Join us early and get a jumpstart on the fun.   

What counts toward PA Giving Day? 

Any gift made between 9 a.m. on March 24 and noon on March 25 (EDT) or via our earlier PA Giving Day communications will count towards our goal. Our priority is to raise support for the Andover Fund, but you can boost any aspect of campus that is important to you. Learn more about all the ways you can give, including via stocks or donor advised fund. 

Will my name and donation amount be visible on the campaign page? 

Your name will appear on the campaign page. No amounts are listed unless you offer a match. You can also choose to remain anonymous too. If you do, your gift may be recognized in Phillips Academy printed and online publications in accordance with school policy.  

 How can I help make the day a success? 

First and foremost, make your gift of any size! You can also help by becoming an advocate on GiveCampus and spreading the word to your friends, classmates, and fellow families. 

How do I encourage my classmates, fellow families, and friends to join? 

Sign up to become an advocate or create a matching gift. You can also use our forthcoming toolkit to share this campaign on social media. Top participants will be rewarded with prizes. Your messages will help unite our community. Please spread the word! 

Will my donation count toward the alumni/family participation rate? 

If you are a graduate, your gift will count toward the alumni participation rate goal of 25 percent. Just make sure you check the “Alumnus/a” or “Abbot Alumna” box when you make your donation. If you don't see the box, you're all set—you've already told us that you're an alum within your profile. If you’re a parent, your gift will count toward the family participation rate goal of 60 percent. Make sure you check the “Current Families” or “Families of Alumni” box when you make your donation and include your student’s class year. 

Are there talking points I should use when communicating with my peers? 

• Gifts to any designation (Andover Fund, Financial Aid, athletics, our Outreach programs, the Peabody Institute, the Addison Gallery, etc.) will count toward the goal. 
• Every donation—of every size—counts!
• Gifts of all sizes are vital to sustain Andover’s mission to educate youth from every quarter and maintain need-blind admission. Earlier this month, PA admitted the 18th class of talented students to benefit from this policy.
• More than 500 Andover students per year receive financial aid—that’s 47%!
• Our community works together to elevate Andover, and we aim for at least 25% of alumni to participate with their gifts. It’s up to each of us to ensure students have access to the best PA experience possible.
• Donations from our community have a tremendous and positive effect on campus. And it’s not just large contributions. To date, gifts of under $100 have totaled more than $100,000 and counting.
• Wondering if your gift truly matters with a $1B+ endowment? It does! Andover Fund donors contribute a crucial 10% of the school’s budget. Endowment funds are often earmarked for dedicated purposes. While we’re thrilled and grateful for these resources, consistent annual giving is the key to closing the funding gap.
• Every area of campus is enhanced by giving—whether that’s securing financial aid, energizing an academic area, boosting a sports team or a performance group, or amplifying our Outreach programs or museums. PA thrives when you support what you love. 

Is my gift tax deductible? 

Yes. As with any charitable contribution to Phillips Academy, your gift on PA Giving Day is tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Please be sure to check your email for your tax receipt and, as always, consult your tax advisor with any specific questions.
